Obituary for Masil Irene Hartsook (Dodd)

Masil Irene Dodd Hartsook, age 89, formerly of 516 Brussels Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, in Low Moor. She was born July 30, 1926 in Alleghany County, to the late Floyd Jacob and Beulah Balser Dodd. She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, where she belonged to the F.W.S. Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the United Transportation Union Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Henry Hartsook; four brothers, Jake Dodd, Cecil Dodd, Carl Dodd, and Tommy Dodd; and a sister, Eulalia Dodd Roach. Masil is survived by two daughters, Linda H. Rice and husband Sherman of Clifton Forge, and Cynthia H. Cutshall and husband Mark of Jonesborough, TN; a son, Stephen Henry Hartsook of Dublin; six grandchildren, Sherman T. Rice, Shawn R. Rice, Candice Relleva, Felicia Hartsook, April Hartsook, and Carrie MacDonald; six great grandchildren, Dakota Rice, K-Lee Akers, Ellie Kate MacDonald, Sadie MacDonald, Camden MacDonald, and Xander Sheperd; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, 511 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
