Betty Louise Hodge (Simmons)
Betty Louise Simmons Hodge, age 80, of The Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge and formerly of 63 Klondike Drive, Warm Springs, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at The Golden Living Center. She was born June 30, 1935 in Highland County, Virginia to the late Virgil Roscoe and Elizabeth Francis McDonald Hamilton Simmons. For over forty years, she worked in the Commissioner of the Revenue office for Bath County, but was known throughout Bath County as a beloved babysitter at The Homestead Resort, and member of Eden United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, the Rebekah Assembly of Virginia I.O.O.F. (Past President 2004), and the Rebekah Good Hope Chapter in Covington. She loved animals and cooking for others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Hodge; four sisters, Faye Cleek, Edna Mae Booth, Virginia Neff, and Ruby Gail Simmons; four brothers-in-law, Eugene Neff, Ronnie Rexrode, Chester Cleek and Russell Hatcher; and a sister-in-law, Jessie Simmons.She is survived by two sons, Mike Hodge of Warm Springs and Steven Hodge of Roanoke; two sisters, Mary Ruth Rexrode and Nancy Ann Hatcher both of Churchville; a brother, Wayne Simmons of Staunton; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her many friends at The Golden Living Center, including special friend and caregiver, Cherie Pritt of Covington.In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be no services at this time.The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Rebekah Assembly of Virginia I.O.O.F., 600 Elmwood Avenue, Lynchburg,VA 24503. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is in charge of arrangements.
