Obituary for David Lee Deeds

David Lee Deeds, age 70, of 7838 Douthat State Park Road, Millboro, Virginia died Friday, June 12, 2015 at his residence. David was born November 28, 1944 in Bath County, Va. to the late Milton Davis Deeds and Alice Louise Lotts Deeds. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. After returning from the war, he founded Deeds Brothers Logging and retired as part owner, and also worked as a farmer. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Oak Grove Advent Christian Church in Millboro where he served as an elder, the Appalachian Forest Management Group, Virginia Forestry Association and the Coleman-Brinkley VFW Post 4204 in Bath County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Hodge Deeds. He is survived by a son, Milton Lee Deeds of Millboro; a sister Ruth Nicely and husband Grover of Clifton Forge; two brothers Daniel Deeds of Millboro and Jim Deeds and wife Alice of Clifton Forge; five nephews, John Nicely, Bobby Nicely, Greg Nicely, Lloyd Deeds and Thomas Deeds; two nieces Jennifer Angel and Debbie Gibson; special mother in law, Blanche Hodge; three special friends, Roger Brinkley, James Reynolds and Michael Reynolds; also a number of great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Oak Grove Advent Christian Church in Millboro, with the Reverend Grover Nicely and Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Advent Christian Church Cemetery.Pallbearers will be John Nicely, Bobby Nicely, Brian Puhle, Ronnie Hodge, Lloyd Deeds and Don Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Nicely, James Reynolds, Roger Brinkley and Tom Deeds. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the Church and at other times at the residence, 7838 Douthat State Park Road, Millboro. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.
