Stanley Francis Douglas
Stanley Francis Douglas, age 85, of 1516 T. C. Walker Highway, Millboro, Virginia died Monday, April 13, 2015 at Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke. He was born January 31, 1930 in Bath County to the late William Louis and Lelia Catherine Jones Douglas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a truck driver stationed in Germany and for thirty years in the Army Reserves. He was retired from the maintenance department of Stillwater, Inc. of Goshen, and also worked for Don and Bush Air Conditioning and Heating Company of Harrisonburg. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Millboro, and The American Legion, in which he was a retired Sergeant at Arms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Luckett Douglas in1999, and a brother, Charles Douglas, and a sister, Evelyn Douglas. He is survived by a son, Stanley O. Douglas of Hampton; an adopted son, Bishop T. R. Murray, Jr. of Montgomery, WV; a sister, Wilma Henderson of Arlington; a half brother, David Luckett and his family; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Joyce Jackson of Alexandria and two special nephews, Robert Henderson of Brandywine, MD and Norman Henderson of Alexandria; and a host of cousins. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Matthew T. Barnette officiating, and Stanley O. Douglas delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Millboro. Graveside military rites will be conducted by members of the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post # 4299. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
