Obituary for
Tony Edward Chaplin
Tony Edward Chaplin, age 52, of 80 Arrowhead Lane, Stuarts Draft, Virginia, was released from pain when he went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 while at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. He was born March 5, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Ruth Knighton Chaplin Goings and the late Harold Chaplin. He was a Logistic Load Planner for J. B. Hunt Transportation and a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association and was a gun enthusiast, and an avid NASCAR and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Hoy Chaplin of Stuarts Draft; his mother, Ruth Knighton Chaplin Goings and stepfather, William "Bill" Goings of Covington; his daughter, Kristen Chaplin of Stuarts Draft; his son, Jon Chaplin of Lynchburg; a sister, Sandy Jeter of Covington; an uncle, James Knighton of Clifton Forge; his grandson, and best friend, Caleb Chaplin and granddaughter, Kaileigh-Ann Gouin; a step grandmother, Carolyn Knighton of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews; and his four legged friend, "Max". Tony will surely be missed by his family, coworkers, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM in Iron Gate Baptist Church with Reverend Hunter Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Pallbearers will be Paul Hoy, Darrell John Kern, Doug Howard, William Henderson, Robert Chenault, James Labarge, Nick Anderson and Shane Sanders. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
