Obituary for Virginia Chesnut

Virginia Elizabeth Vance Chesnut, age 93, of 1487 Locust Bottom Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Friday, January 9, 2015 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany. She was born March 21, 1921 in Alleghany County to the late George and Cora DePriest Vance. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant for the former C & O Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital and a member of Glen Wilton United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Chesnut; two sons, Miles Chesnut and one in infancy, and a number of brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Helen C. Hale and husband Sidney of Salem, and Brenda C. Lugar and husband Charles of Covington; a sister, Mabel Johnston of Ft Despair, MD; five grandchildren, Stephen Chesnut and wife Sheila, Kelly Chesnut Carter and husband Jimmy, Darren Chesnut and wife Cathy, Chad Chesnut, and Timothy Lugar; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM in Glen Wilton United Methodist Church with Reverend Ray Sandifer officiating. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Glen Wilton United Methodist Church, PO Box 85, Eagle Rock, VA 24085, or Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
