William Thomas "Tommy" Farrar

William Thomas “Tommy” Farrar, age 78, of the Brian Center, Low Moor died Wednesday, September 5, 2001 in the Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.
Mr. Farrar was born March 12, 1923 in Clifton Forge, VA a son of the late Charles T. Farrar and Dolly Jane Wright Farrar.
He was a retired conductor for CSX Transportation a member of Central United Methodist Church, Clifton Forge, a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge # 1065, the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge # 1683 and was active with the Clifton Forge Little League. He was also a US Marine Corps Veteran.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Newhard-Farrar of Clifton Forge; a brother James L. Farrar of Clifton Forge; four sisters, Doris Carlisle of Lexington, North Carolina, Nancy Carlisle of Norfolk, VA, Betty Tyser of Suffolk, VA and Etlan Rushing of Wichita Falls, TX; a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Snidow Farrar in 1995 and three brothers, Charles, Donald and Benjamine Farrar.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, September 9, 2001 from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Rev. John Carrier officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mountaineer Athletic Club.
