Marian Judith Lane "Judy" Glover, 93, of 588 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge died Friday, July 16, 2010 in Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. She was born in Alleghany County, Virginia on December 19, 1916 a daughter of the late John Carson Lane and Cora Vivian Garwood Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Roosevelt "Teddy" Glover. Judy was a cashier for the Kroger Company in Clifton Forge for many years before her retirement. She lived on her "Beloved Ridgemont" hill at the end of Roxbury Street. The family property was previously owned by her beloved father "Papa John". Judy delighted telling stories of her childhood activities and adventures along with her brothers and sisters assisting their parents in farming on "Papa Johns" property on Douthat Road. This property is now a part of Douthat State Park. The family also farmed on Morris Hollow Road in Alleghany County. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Levering Lane, Leslie Lane, and Thomas Lane and by sisters Mary Catherine Lane Gooch, Dorothy Vivian Lane Nelson, and Christine Lane Stewart. Also preceding her in death were nieces, Dorothy Janet Nelson Batten and Ethel Lane. She is survived by nieces, Vivian Judith Nelson Sutphin, Tracie Glynn Nelson Swietek and by a nephew George Albert Nelson, Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Maryland, Florida and Alexandria, Virginia and a number of great nieces and nephews and cousins. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. from Crown Hill Cemetery in Clifton Forge with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Friends may call anytime at Nicely Funeral Home, the family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 304 Karnes Road, Low Moor or to the Mallow Presbyterian Church, 2004 Mallow Road, Covington, Virginia 24426.
