Thomas Roy Woods (Tommy) (81) of 824 Jefferson Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Clifton Forge on March 3, 1929, a son of the late Harvey Drewry Woods and Lydia McCoy Woods. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Brent Woods, and three brothers: Harvey D. Woods, Jr., Willis A. Woods, and Richard M. Woods. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn Miller Woods, and two sons, Brian Woods of Clifton Forge and Jason Woods of Bath County; two brothers, Harry P. Woods of Richmond and James W. Woods and wife Eleanor of Wilmington, N.C., sisters-in-law Audrey Woods of Amherst and Eleanora Miller of Erlanger, Ky., brothers-in-law Charlie Nichols of Covington and Buddy Proffitt of Pearisburg, and a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School and attended the University of Maryland and Southeastern Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea during the Korean War. He retired as owner-operator of the Shell Service Center on Main Street in Clifton Forge. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge # 1065. He was baptized in Christian faith at the Clifton Forge Baptist Church and had many happy memories of attending the Horeb Baptist Church when staying with his grandmother. He loved many sports and hunting and fishing which he shared fondly with his sons through their many years together. The family will greet friends at Nicely Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday at two o'clock at Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Paul Brokaw officiating.
