Audrey Carter Chodorov, age 62, of 800 W. Ridgeway St, Scott Hill, Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem. Born July 27, 1947 in Hampton, Virginia, Audrey was a daughter of Belvia G. Carter and the late Aubrey W. Carter, Sr. She was a homemaker throughout her life and a former manager of Combined Insurance Company, where she worked for a number of years and received many awards as an agent and manager. She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. She had attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community and was currently taking home study courses toward her Bachelor Degree in nursing. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and belonged to the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose and Clifton Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad. She regularly sent birthday cards to all listed on the Scott Hill monthly newsletter and was an avid BINGO player. She is survived by her mother Belvia G. Carter of Hampton; a daughter, Christina Guerrero of Covington; two sons, Carrol "C.D." McHenry, Jr. of Pennsylvania and Clayton McHenry of Kansas; two sisters, Anita Crust and Jill Jackson; three brothers, Vance Carter, Percy Carter and Phillip Carter; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed by her former husband and longtime friend, David Chodorov of Clifton Forge , as well as family and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Aubrey Carter, Jr. and William Carter. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
